Added 9/10/03 The Docking Station is the most complicated part of the project to date. It consists of a network connected Pentium PC running Linux, (PC-104 in the next prototype) supporting and operating electrical and mechanical connections for the Squimpbot, allowing the robot to locate, connect to, and operate external devices to perform a battery swap, wheel speed calibration, sensor direction/ sensitivity calibration and recharge battery packs. it is presently in the crude prototype stage of development, but like the robot it will be manufactured after the general mechanical and physical features have been tested and committed to CAD. Once the design is capable enough it will be offered through the www.sw-robotics.com site. |
